Overview – feminine genital mutilation (FGM)

Feminine genital mutilation (FGM) is an operation where in actuality the female genitals are intentionally cut, hurt or changed, but there is no medical reason behind this to be achieved.

It is also referred to as feminine circumcision or cutting, and also by other terms, such as for example sunna, gudniin, halalays, tahur, megrez and khitan, and others.
